Somehow, in the quick fall and rise of the blurred layers of the yellow gloves, outrageous Mei saw the shadow of a young Bing grinning. It was an illusion that made her terribly want to hit them even harder. She was mad. But soon her breath shortened hastily and her energy drained. She stopped. A thought popped out from her spinning head with despair. If only the little boy were a little girl. Then, perhaps, this house would be more in peace and she herself would not necessarily be sterilized.
